Tell Ohio lawmakers and law enforcement agencies to oppose permitless carry

The Ohio Legislature is considering legislation, HB 227 and SB 215, to make it easier to carry firearms in public through permitless carry. This dangerous idea would allow firearm owners to carry a concealed handgun in public without obtaining a license to carry first. This means no safety training or background check would be required to publicly carry a concealed handgun.

Permitless carry endangers not only the public, but law enforcement too. Please sign our petition to voice to lawmakers and law enforcement agencies that they should prioritize public safety by opposing permitless carry.

"As Ohio residents, we ask that you speak out against permitless carry. Ohioans – including responsible gun owners and non-gun owners alike – know this legislation endangers the public (including law enforcement) and increases the risk of gun violence. Gun owners have a duty to safely handle their firearms and to be aware of the law, and permits make that possible by requiring background checks and safety trainings.

Please work to prevent permitless carry legislation from advancing. Doing so would benefit the public safety of all Ohioans, including law enforcement. Permitless carry is wrong for Ohio."
